Marcy will be joined by Professional Singer Kris Feldman to teach this workshop. Kris received her Bachelor Degree of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, where she studied classical flute with Harry Houdeshel, classical and jazz voice with the renowned Eileen Farrell, and Jazz Studies with David Baker, the Head of the Smithsonian Jazz Institute.Kris is a Musical and Vocal Director. Her credits include: The World Goes ‘Round, Once Upon A Mattress, Zombie Prom, Footloose, Into The Woods, Urinetown, Destry Rides Again, Bye Bye Birdie, Dark Of The Moon, Into The Woods Jr., and Beauty and The Beast. She has also directed and performed in benefit performances for The Leukemia Foundation, The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Project AIDS LA, The Compton Battered Women’s Shelter, and Save Darfur. Kris is a seasoned performer, starting her professional career at the age of 10 as a singer of sacred music. She performed on television and radio as a soloist from the beautiful Cathedral of St. John The Divine and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. She has been the lead singer in several bands of differing styles, including Folk, Dixieland, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Progressive Rock, and Indie. Additionally Kris is constantly used as a session singer because of her vocal versatility. As Kris likes to say, “I am a classically trained jazz musician who sings rock, and I teach at a musical theatre school!” Kris teaches a method known as The Applied Science of Vocal Art. She has taken the method to a new level, to apply it to any and every style of singing, in order to ensure the vocal health of all who wish to have a career as a vocalist. She is so happy to be bringing her method to A Prelude to the Classics.
