Miss Marcy:

Teaches beginning to advanced piano, ages 2 - adult, specializing in classical, rock, and easy listening. She also teaches vocal, beginning drums, and can assist your child with the violin and viola.  She is a Professional Tutor for all Music Classes and a Professional Writing Consultant at Florida Atlantic University.


Miss Marcy began playing the piano at the age of 3, and lessons at the age of 4. She played the viola in orchestra from the age of 7 until 20. She was classically trained prior to college by an Instructor at The Manhattan School of Music, then attended New York University, early admission after her Junior Year of High School as a Piano Performance Major. She performed in Metro NYC, accompanied the New Jersey School of Ballet, and was a Student Teacher at the New York City High School of Performing Arts, where the movie “FAME” was filmed. Marcy then went on to Hartt College of Music, with a double major in Piano Performance and Music Management, and additionally obtained her MBA, with a concentration in Organizational Behavior. She completed the Investment Banking Program at Harvard. She later attended Law School.

 

Marcy had a 25 year highly successful career in Corporate Banking, as an Executive Vice President and Corporate Director of Wealth Management for many Fortune 100 Commercial Banks. She has been a Chairperson for FINRA, judging Investment Arbitrations for the Financial Industry for 13 years. She is also an Expert Witness for the Investment Field.

 

Miss Marcy has been highly active in supporting the Arts Community in Sarasota, including Board positions and Chairing Black Tie Fundraisers for: The Asolo Theatre, Designing Women, The Sarasota Symphony, Sarasota Opera, Heart Association, and a plethera of other organizations.

 

Marcy established A Prelude To The Classics Music Academy of Performing Arts in 2009, with the headquarters in Sarasota, Florida. The Academy grew to include Private Lessons in Piano, including Classical, Rock and Easy Listening, and then incorporated classes in music theory, note reading, instrumentation and orchestration. The Academy hosts two rock bands for kids: Junior Music Company, ages 4 – 10, and Senior Music Company, ages 11 – adult. These rock groups include keyboard, drums, guitar, bass, vocal and percussion. The Academy has been chosen to perform at a myriad of venues including The Van Wezel, Asolo Main Stage, and The Sarasota Symphony. The Academy presents two large scale performances per year, showcasing students performing on stage, as well as The Child Prodigy Series pre-schoolers, and Music Company selections that are theme oriented. Classes include: Note Bee Class, a competitive classroom, fast paced which focuses on advanced level music theory and note reading, ages 4 – 11; The Child Prodigy Series is a group session for pre-schoolers which teach children ages 2 – 4 keyboard lessons, note reading, and rhythm in a fun, nurturing environment. Miss Marcy also teaches in Boca Raton, and commutes weekly between the Sarasota and Boca Raton Studios. Miss Marcy trains and mentors her top students to teach piano. The Academy hosts classical piano competitions that are placed in the students school records for their college transcripts. The Academy requires students to maintain top grades in school, and camaraderie among their peers.

 

Miss Marcy personally teaches Note Bee Class (ages 4 - 10 beginning to advanced music theory and note reading techniques), The Child Prodigy Series (beginning piano and rhythm and note reading, ages 2 - 4),  private lessons on piano in a “gifted” format, teaching at a fast pace. She teaches beginning drums, (an Associate Instructor teaches advanced drums), and vocal coaching for auditions in school plays, and college auditions. Miss Marcy tutors students for college entry exams, and students in need in improving their grades in music and piano. Miss Marcy also teaches beginning Viola.

 

Miss Marcy personally works individually with students with learning disabilities and has had tremendous success that has enabled students unable to mainstream into a traditional school system, and include: Autism, Einstein Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Asperger’s Syndrome. Miss Marcy also works with adults with chronic pain, including Fibromyalgia, Arthritis.

Miss Donna:

Miss Donna studied classical piano in New York for 15 years. She has performed and taught piano and organ in New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. She enjoys studying the myriad forms of classical music and comparing and contrasting styles and technique to contemporary music. She has found this enhances the students interest and heightens their desire to learn. 

Miss Donna has had a multi faceted career in Education. She has had a 25 year career in pre school education and is actively teaching pre school in Sarasota. She has been with the Sarasota School Board for 25 years. 

is very active with the Sarasota Music Teachers Association. 

Miss Donna hold adult group lessons Monday through Friday in the mornings at the studio. Please contact the student for specific information including days, times and tuition.

Miss Robynne:

Teaches Guitar, Classical Guitar, Bass Guitar, mandolin, Violin, Ukulele, and the Autoharp. Miss Robynne attended Webster University, and received Vocal Training with Vick Johnson, Classical Guitar training with Steve Toom, and Bass Guitar with Tony Shepherd.  She additionally carries a degree in Early Education. 

She has performed at City Players and Theatre Factory in St. Louis, and has had many live performances in a myriad of venues in Sarasota, as well as on local radio stations. Her original music has been aired in Sarasota in tampa. Miss Robynne has been teaching guitar for over 10 years throughout Sarasota, and St. Louis.

Miss Robynne has received extensive training in Montessori, and is a Certified Instructor.

She received Honors for Practicum 1, Principals of Preschool, Music and Movement, and was Phi Theta Kappa in the Honors Society, and Dean’s list.

Miss Robynne has performed for a myriad of benefits throughout Sarasota to benefit Pre School and Children’s programs.

Zach:

Zach has been playing the drums for 10 years. He is naturally gifted, and can listen to any rock song and play the drum part. He has orchestrated all of the Music Company pieces in conjunction with Miss Marcy. He has a gift with teaching children, beginning at the age of 2! He has taught The Child Prodigy Series from its inception, and is the Co-Founder of Music Company. He has performed as lead Drummer for Music Company center stage at the Asolo, and the Van Wezel.

He has performed a huge selection of material, including classic rock, jazz fusion, and alternative rock, including Led Zeppelin, Santana, The Who, Aerosmith, Green Day, Lynard Skynard, Cream and songs including Stairway to Heaven, Brown Eyed Girl, Evil Ways, Freebird, Dream On, White Room, Transiberian Orchestra medley, and most recently, The Overture for Tommy, by the WHO.

Zach graduated University of Alabama, Pre-Law, with a 3.92 GPA, and will be entering Law School in the Spring. He teaches holidays, school breaks, and summers. He is a head camp counselor in the summers for the YMCA summer program, and has been a counselor, and coach for soccer and football for 5 years. He played varsity soccer for Sarasota High School, and graduated with honors from Pine View School of the Gifted.
