Tuition, Lesson Times, Structure of Lessons: (Sarasota and Boca Raton)


Private Lessons: Ages 2 to adult: All students  are given a well-rounded program of instruction with training in repertoire, note reading, theory, musicianship, ear training, sight reading, technique and performance. For those interested in performance, composition or theory, extra attention is devoted to these areas. Advanced students work on instrumentation and orchestration and assist in preparing for recitals utilitizing orchestral backgrounds. Marcy has developed a unique approach that enables students to learn at an exceptionally fast pace in a nurturing, fun, and enthusiastic environment.

Miss Marcy works with students to audition for college music majors, minors, entrance into the top music schools, ie. The Bak School in West Palm, and tutors existing college students in their music programs in theory, repertoire, technique and sight reading.


Music Company is an actual band that is formed to play rock and roll and broadway pieces including drums, lead and rhythm guitar, bass, percussion, piano, electric piano,vocal with harmonization. The Academy performs two large shows per year. The most focused students are asked to join "Music Company. There are two companies:  Junior Music Company - ages 4 - 10, Senior Company - ages 10 - 30+. Top students perform regularly at black tie charitable functions throughout the community. Students are a mixture of those pursuing music scholarships, students with a love of music for fun, parents seeking aid for children with learning disabilities, and adults for enjoyment, stress relief, or seeking to improve cognitive skills.


Tuition and Payment:Tuition payments are expected in advance, on the first of the month for the full month. Payments may be made in cash , check or online bank transfers.  Your canceled checks or online transfers are your receipts.

The level and age of the student determines the length of the lesson. Lesson length increases as the student progresses.  Several types of plans are offered.

Plan 1- Ages 2 to 4 : 30 minute weekly customized lessons in the studio, $50+. Lessons paid monthly in advance. Sarasota students may select one or two lessons per week. Boca Raton students may select one, two or three lessons per week.

Plan 2 - Ages 5+:  60-90 minute weekly lessons in the studio, paid monthly in advance. All lessons are customized, and lessons are available one, two or three times per week in Sarasota, and one, two or three times per week in Boca Raton.

 Plan 3 - Learning Disabiled Students Ages 3+: 30 minutes weekly lessons in the studio, paid monthly in advance. $50+. All lessons are customized based on the individual students needs, and with the goal being to support the learning disabled student, and ultimately mainstream the student in the traditional school systems. Repetition is key to working with students with learning disabilities, and it is highly recommended that students take two or three lessons per week.


Sarasota Private Piano: Private Piano with Miss Marcy are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between the hours of 6AM and 12 PM and Fridays and Saturdays. Skype is also available. 


Boca Raton lesson tuition: Lessons are held in the centrally located studio at On Stage Studios, 1200 Clintmore Road, between Military and Congress on Wednesdays 3pm - 9pm and Thursdays from 2pm - 9pm. Lesson 
times are: 45,60 and 90 minutes lessons for ages 5+.  Ages 2 - 5 lessons are 30 and 45 minutes. Rates are: $50+. Payment is due the beginning of the month.  All qualified students may join Music Company.


Music Company: Students between the ages of 4 and 30 are eligible to participate in Music Company and must be able to attend rehearsals weekly: Jr. company is held Mondays 6:45 - 7 PM in Sarasota, and 7:15 - 7:30PM in Boca.  Senior Company is held Tuesdays 6PM -6:15 PM.  Costs are: $100 per month for Junior and $100 for Senior Company. Performances are theme driven (two per year, December and April). Prior themes include: action heros, classic rock, broadway musicals, jazz fusion and Disney, The Wizard of Oz, 60's...

The Child Prodigy Series: Please call for days and times. Cost is $50 per month paid upfront at the start of the month. Students may join at any time.  Top rated kids program in S. Florida. Classes fill quickly. Classes of maximum 8 students. (more info on Child Prodigy Series tab on this website). Waitlisted every semester so call quickly.

Note Bee Class: Sarasota studio holds class  held Monday's 5:15PM and Thursdays 5:30pm in Boca.  Group class for existing students emphasizing note reading, keyboard recognition. Monthly "note bees" with prizes! Tuition is $100 per month paid upfront monthly.

Studio Locations: Sarasota Studio: Centrally located: 3916 Midland Road, off Bee Ridge and Tuttle. Boca Raton centrally located 1200 Clintmore Road, between Congress and Military.

Cancellation policy:   One week's notice for rescheduling lessons is required. Lessons are paid upfront the last week of the month for the upcoming month. It is important to give notice in order to allow for a rescheduled time, as time slots are scarce due to the large existing base of students. Marcy works with students to be flexible with school schedules for children, and work schedules for adults. However, if students cancel without proper notice consistently, the cost of the lesson will be forfeited. If a student is ill, a makeup lesson will be scheduled.

CLASSICAL COMPETITIONS and Recitals: Competitions: Age categories: 4-8, 9-12, 15 -18. Original composer or original students compositions with teacher approval only, no arrangements. $65 per contestant, application with registration and fee due no later than February annually. Competitions are  held annually in  April at Pritchards Steinway in Sarasota and in Boca Raton at Steinway on Federal Highway. Awards ceremonies with trophies and certificates for school records are held following the Spring Recitals: Sarasota's Spring performances are held in April at TPC Prestancia Golf Club Ball Room at 1PM, and the Spring performance for Boca Raton is held following the competition at Steinway in April.  Competition cpntestants will be judged based on: Degree of difficulty of the piece, expression, use of phrasing, technique, memorization, notes, use of pedal, repeats, and professionalism. Certificates for school records will be distributed as well as trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Sth place in each age category.
